The HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT - JUNIOR DEPUTY MOUNTED POSSE originated in 1951 under Sheriff C.V. Buster Kern as an adjunct organization of the Harris County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Jack Heard, Sheriff Johnny Klevenhagen, Sheriff Tommy Thomas, and current Sheriff Adrian Garcia have continued to support and sponsor the tradition of the Posse. The members of the Posse have the privilege of close association with law enforcement officers, especially with members of the HCSD Mounted Partol, but also with Officers in many other agencies such as the Houston Police Department. The display cases containing the many tropheys, awards and honors received by the Posse are located in the foyer at the HCSD's Northwest Command Station, 23828 Tomball Pky., Tomball, Texas.
